The EYES Have It!

Is a mothers belly button the proverbial "light at the end of the tunnel" we hear so much about? No not really, but babies in the womb can actually "see" light. Your baby's eyes begin developing two weeks after conception and over the next four weeks all the major eye structures are fully formed.  By the time your seventh month is starting your baby is capable of opening their eyes, detecting light and even following the movement of light.

(¯`'•.¸ • MORE THAN MONDAY • ¸.•'´¯)

Several years ago I had been stricken with a bout of bells palsy...the left side of my face was paralysed  for about 6 weeks. Each week after the first 2, the symptoms continued to subside slowly. 95% of the paralysis completely left my face...still a bit of a drooping eyelid & lip when fatigue or stress settles in. My left eardrum however has suffered permanent damage. This paralysis has made certain tones in sound painful, but about a year ago while working I was in a bit of a feisty mood after a rough several days and I "cranked up the volume" way past my usual comfort zone.  I made a wonderful discovery...a group the I have LOVED forever didn't cause my ear the same pain that so many others do...a new passion for LOUD music, a new inspiration was found in...

More Than Monday

Every pair of sweet little feet is an inspiration to me! Look at how those little toes flex and bend to grip and balance as they walk.

This is what inspires me to create Mini-Mocs! See how the supple soft premium leather flexes easily with every natural movement of baby's walking feet. I never imagined that those tiny little toes could bring such BIG INSPIRATION!

Fun Facts Friday

Talking, reading & chatting with your baby will help build your child's vocabulary, stimulate their imagination, and improve their communication skills. In fact, the more you speak & read to your child even from the youngest age, the better it is for their growth and development. Studies have shown that language skills and even a child's intelligence are directly related to how many words an infant hears each day. In one case study, babies whose parents spoke to them consistanly (an average of 2,100 words an hour) scored higher on standard testing when they reached age 3 than the children whose parents hadn't been as verbal.

By talking and chatting to your baby while taking a walk, while in a store, or even while driving are all valuable opportunities to create verbal interactions. Reading is another fantastic & fun way to add variety to your chat sessions.

Fun Facts Friday

A  pinch to grow an inch...or 10"

In their first year a baby can grow on average a whopping 10" (25 cm) in length and can triple their birth weight. After the one year mark a baby's growth continues but does slows considerably.  And while watching all of the fantastic growth and changes baby's go through, one of the most amazing facts by far is that baby's grow faster in the Spring season then any other time of the year.
